Diamond and Precious Stones Recovery

At Gerrards, we use a process involving acids which dissolves the precious metal in your jewellery lots, without damaging the stones. Diamonds and other precious gems can be recovered from gold, silver, platinum and palladium jewellery whilst the precious metal portion is melted and assayed separately.

All stones are then returned, along with payment for your assayed metal.

How it works ?

Precious Stones

Our processing method works for any precious (diamonds, rubis, saphires, emeralds, etc.) and some semi-precious stones (topazes, citrines, etc.).

For softer or treated gems, pearls and opals, you must get them removed by a jeweller since the process could discolour or damage them.

Processing Time

The processing time to recover your precious stones can be between 2 to 4 working weeks.

For platinum jewellery, the process can take longer as platinum is a harder metal and may take longer to dissolve in the acid solution.

Payment

After processing, the metal is recovered, smelted, assayed and valued at the current price of the day.

You can get paid by BACS, CHAPS, FPS, Cheque or Cash.

The stones can be either collected or send to you by insured carrier.
