Gold bars are said cast when they are produced directly from gold that has been melted. Bars created via this method are also referred to as “molded” or “poured”.
Liquid gold is poured directly into a bar mould (generally cast-iron) that solidifies quickly as it cools down. The bar is then taken out from the mould.
Cast bars are usually cheaper than minted gold bars, because their manufacturing process is quicker and cheaper. Moreover, they have a more natural look, as casting is a traditional method, older than 6,000 years.
