Gold bars are said “minted” when they are produced from a gold blank using a die (like bullion coins). Such bars are also referred to as “ingots”, or “wafers” in some countries.
Cutting is done with a die of rectangular shape that have the required dimension of the bar. Markings are then applied by a minting press.
All the surfaces (top, base and sides) of a minted bar are smooth and even, unlike a cast gold bar.
